Balancing the Burden: Cultivating Your Support System - Have you ever met someone who seems to possess an uncanny ability to navigate any challenge? These "natural problem solvers" are a unique breed. Their minds are wired to assess situations, identify solutions, and adapt quickly. They're the friends you turn to for a "penny for their thoughts" or the colleagues whose "brain you can pick" when a sticky situation arises. I refer to them as the Gardeners, able to plant seeds, nurture them, and ensure they grow.
Rebecca - thank you for this! I have been a literal gardener most of my life, but you’ve just helped me realize that I am a figurative gardener as well. The burn out and overwhelm has been intense of late. I knew in my heart what the source was, but the analogy gives me a new hope and perspective. I understand and embrace the needs for tending my physical gardens - and now you’ve given me the “permission” I’ve been seeking to embrace the need to tend and replant my literal gardens. Thank you for this gift today. Praying your gardens thrive!
Hello Lisa! I am so pleased that my words resonated with you, and gave you the clarity and permission to tend to yourself and thrive. Thank you so much for sharing this insight. Reading this reminds me of how sharing our thoughts and experiences is impactful to others, along with the growth and healing we have ourselves by getting the words from our hearts and minds out. You have inspired me to keep sharing! Thank you.
Rebecca- Thanks for sharing this. I love your pointed observation on: "If you are constantly allowing others to pick your flowers, and replant them, offering your seeds, and watering their gardens, how will yours grow? Who is tending to your harvest, or who, is at least contributing?" This is something I wished I learned earlier in my younger years. Took a while to get there. But the gardening analogy always takes it home.
